Wire Bender

Project Ideas

The wire bender was made at Fox.Build for bending wire (mostly aluminum). It can bend wire to a practically unlimited length. The procedure to operate the bender is:

  1. ) Download the bending app “WireBenderGUI” from here
  2. ) Connect to the bender via WiFi – the connection is “wirebender” with no password
  3. ) On the “Setup Tab” connect to IP 1.2.3.4
  4. ) Draw the shape you want bent in the app
  5. ) Send the info to the bender
  6. ) When the bender is done bending cut the wire off

Plastic Bender

Project Ideas

The plastic bender was made at Fox.Build for bending sheet plastic. It can bend plastic up to 24 inches in width. The procedure to operate the bender is:

  1. ) Place the plastic on the bender with the line to be bent centered above the groove in the bender
  2. ) Turn on the power supply and watch for the wire to turn red hot
  3. ) Wait until the plastic appears soft on the top, then lift the front of the bender up to the desired bend angle while keeping the plastic from moving
  4. ) Remove the plastic from the bender and hold it in position until it has cooled
  5. ) Turn off the power supply

Vinyl Cutter

Project Ideas

The vinyl cutter is a US Cutter MH 871-MK2. It can cut up to approximately 32″ wide material with a practically unlimited length, although the software may limit maximum length. It can cut vinyl (including heat transfer vinyl), and using the pen option it can draw on paper. The software that runs the the vinyl cutter, “VinylMaster Cut”, is installed on the PC next to the cutter. The VinylMaster Cut Help menu has links to several very good videos that explain how to use the machine. More info can be found on the [US Cutter Website].

Materials

Vinyls, paper

Oracl 631 vinyl is best for painting stencils and the 651 is best for permanent applications of the vinyl to a surface.

Tips and Tricks

For vinyl cutting start with:

  • 30 to 60 grams of pressure
  • 50mm/sec speed

and adjust from there as needed.
