A New Console Table

Our member William D. has been very busy furnishing his house with pieces made in our makerspace. His latest piece, a console table, was just finished last week.

William started with plans for the Rustic X Console from Ana White. The plans are available for all DIYers on her site. William’s material choices were, “simply the least expensive construction lumber I could find at Menards. Pine studs and furring strips, and the actual shelves are edge-glued 1 x 6 (pine I believe).”

“For the legs ad shelves, I used Minwax Espresso stain. But I ran out when I got to the top, so I spread what little I had left over the entire top as much as possible, then put a coat of Minwax Royal Mahogany on top of that which I thought gave a nice contrast with the espresso stain. In total with lumber, hardware, and stain I put about $75 into it,” William continued

The table was a gift and was very well received! It fits perfectly into its new home.
