Vacuum Chamber

About

Vacuum chamber and vacuum pump

The vacuum chamber and pump provide a way to envelop items in a vacuum that can go as high (low) as 25 millimeters of mercury (Hg). This can be used to:

  • Extract air from castings when molding
  • Remove water from items such as 3D printing filament
  • Explode marshmallows (please clean up the mess!)

The pump is under the workbench and needs to be run there. If it is not below the camber oil leaks back into the chamber, both messing up the chamber and depleting the oil needed by the pump.

The pump:

Power and Speeds

The pump is capable of pulling a vacuum over 25mm of Hg.

Tips and Tricks

If the gauge on the chamber doesn’t show a vacuum forming rotate the lid 180 degrees and try again. Sometimes it doesn’t seal well in one orientation.
