Bandmill Sawmill
About
As a group project we built a bandsaw sawmill out of wood! Because it takes up more space than we have at Fox.Build we keep it at a members’ house and have occasional “sawmill days”.
Safety
Because it creates a LOT of dust it should be used outside
Safety glasses are required
The blade is very sharp – never go near it when the sawmill is running
Materials
Wood, usually logs
Power and Speeds
Works best when the motor is run at full speed
Can accommodate logs up to 13 or 14 inches in diameter and about 10 feet long
Tips and Tricks
Holding the log securely is key to getting a good cut. Using scrap wood and screws is one good way to accomplish this.
